Carl Valimont
Head Coach - Varsity
Coach Valimont started playing hockey at the age of four and went on to attend high school at Avon
Old Farms School in Avon, Connecticut. From 1984-1988 he played for the University of Massachusetts -
Lowell where he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with a minor in Marketing.
In the 1985 NHL Entry Draft he was selected by the Vancouver Canucks with the 193th overall pick and
played six seasons with the Milwaukee Admirals of the IHL. He joined the Houston Aeros in 1994 and
played three seasons before concluding his career playing two years in the Deutch Eis Hockey League in
Germany. Carl also played and coached with the Chicago Cheetahs of the Roller Hockey International Pro
League for two seasons.
In 1999 he took over as the Head Coach at Arrowhead High School where he compiled an impressive
0.716 winning percentage (178-68-9) over 11 seasons with the Warhawks, highlighted by a 2005 state
runner-up finish, and the 2009 state championship.
During that time he also coached the team to 7 conference championships (2002, 2003, 2004, 2005,
2006, 2008, 2009) with a combined 84-10-1 record (0.889). The Warhawks won 49-consecutive conference
games from 2001-2006 and during an eight season stretch they finished with a 0.970 conference winning
percentage (64-2-0). Carl also lead Arrowhead to 5 conference sportsmanship awards in hockey. (2001,
2002, 2003, 2004, 2010)
In 2004-05 Arrowhead became the first Milwaukee area high school team to advance to the state
championship game, losing 2-1 to Superior in overtime. They returned to the state tournament in 2009
and went on to win each of their games by 4 goals to walk away with the state title..
Carl retired after the 2010 season and from 2013-2015 he coached the Milwaukee Jr. Admirals U-15,
U-16 and U-18 teams, before deciding to return to coach the Arrowhead varsity team in the fall of 2015.
It wasn't long before Arrowhead earned a trip back to Madison for the state tournament and in 2017
they suffered a tough 2-1 overtime loss to Waukesha in the opening round.
During his 17 year coaching career at Arrowhead Carl has been named the All-Area Coach of the Year
three times by the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel (2003, 2005, 2009). At the state level he has been named the
Sectional Coach of Year in 2004, 2009, 2017, 2019, 2020 by the Wisconsin High School Hockey Association
(WHCA). In 2020 Carl was also named the WHCA Bob Johnson Coach-of-the-Year..
His overall coaching record of 284-106-18 (0.718) spanning 17 seasons stands among the all-time
coaching leaders in Wisconsin High School history.
